High School Summer Journalism Institute

About This Program

This grant-funded program brings 10 students from Elmont, Freeport, Hempstead, and Uniondale high schools for six to 10 days of journalism summer camp, usually in the third week of July, at which the high school students learn about story composition, photojournalism, and videography. Two Herbert School professors, myself included, act as the co-directors and program facilitators.
