Douglas Manor Wetland Restoration Project

About This Program

Hofstra was approached in 2018 by the Douglas Manor Environmental Association (DMEA) for assistance studying a small coastal wetland that had become overtaken by the invasive reed Phragmites. Our investigation began with sediment coring to study the history of the wetland and has since progressed to include groundwater sampling and now we are beginning a new phase of the project where Hofstra faculty and students will be conducting ecological monitoring before and after wetland restoration.
